“This event was fantastic, a truly inspirational day and to have 3 out of the 4 winners from Liverpool shows we are moving in the right direction and it is even better that they are all involved in the Make Your Mark in Liverpool campaign!
What I saw at yesterday’s event was a room full of true inspirational role models, many of whom have overcome adversity but all of them have worked hard and achieved spectacular results.”
Local Cricketer Paul Horton supports Make Your Mark with a Ball

6 March 2008
Make Your Mark, has teamed up with Sport Relief to encourage young people to get thinking about fundraising through the Make Your Mark with a Ball competition.
Make Your Mark and Sport Relief are calling out for people in schools, colleges, universities, youth groups and workplaces to develop innovative and enterprising ways to fundraise using just a ball or balls.
Lancashire County Cricket Club’s ‘Player of the Year’ Paul Horton today got behind the Make Your Mark with a Ball competition to raise money for Sport Relief. With only one week to go before the Sport Relief Weekend, Paul urged the young people of Liverpool to get involved saying.
“Make Your Mark with a Ball is a really fun and simple way to get involved in Sport Relief and help young people in the UK and Africa. With one week still to go, there is plenty of time to raise some money and maybe find a new sport or activity to get involved in. Liverpool is very important to me and I am delighted to support a campaign such as Make Your Mark in Liverpool that is offering young people the support to make their dreams a reality"
The Stines Make Their Mark as best unsigned band in Radio City vote
3 March 2008
Liverpool four piece “The Stines” were today announced winners of a twelve month long competition run by Make your Mark in Liverpool to discover the city’s best unsigned act. Listeners to Radio City have been voting since November, with stiff competition meaning there were only a mere 16 votes between The Stines and runners up, The Stays and Roy Turnham.
Being crowned Make Your Mark in Liverpool’s top unsigned act comes with not only the accolade of beating off some very strong competition but some fantastic prizes as well including £500 worth of recording studio time at Parr Street Studios, a music video produced by Sparkle Media, one months worth of free PR from Suki at Celebtronic and becoming an ambassador for the national Make Your Mark in the Music Business campaign which is launched on Monday.
Antony Miller from the band comments “We are delighted to be part of the Make Your Mark in Liverpool campaign and proud to have been voted Liverpool’s best unsigned act by Radio City listeners. It is a great honour and hopefully, the prize and the accolade will enable The Stines to go from strength to strength”
Head of Campaigns for Make Your Mark in Liverpool Sarah Bevan-Fischer said “This competition was aimed at highlighting the enterprise abilities needed to succeed in the music business. We had an unprecedented amount of support from the local music scene and the competition has been so successful, it is to be taken nationally with a prize worth £5000!
Both runners up The Stays and Roy Turnham have performed at events for Make Your Mark and I can highly recommend going to see them gig. As for The Stines – well you heard it here first, they are Liverpool’s best unsigned act and I have a feeling they wont remain unsigned for long.”
GR8 in 08 winner annouced
21 September 2007
ACT NOW is the message 17 year old college student Chloe Worrell took to the set of Hollyoaks as winner of the GR8 in 08 competition run by Make Your Mark in Liverpool in conjunction with Lime Pictures.
Chloe’s inspirational idea to make Liverpool GR8 in 08 and beyond joins her passion for the
young people with her concerns about global warming. ACT NOW aims to, in a similar was to health warnings on cigarette packs, inform people about the damage we are all doing to the environment by giving young people a voice.
Chloe said: “Doing my research I found that the younger the children were the more they knew about global warming and the more they wanted to do about it. Children feel like they are being left out and are not having a say on what should be done about global warming. ACT NOW wishes to change that.”
The Make Your Mark in Liverpool Campaign organised the competition and were delighted by the response and some of the exceptional ideas however, Campaign Leader Sarah Bevan- Fischer was bowled over by Chloe.
Sarah said: “ACT NOW is an inspirational project developed by an empowered young woman who wants to make a difference. Chloe is the type of young person who is everywhere in Liverpool and who the Make Your Mark in Liverpool Campaign hopes to inspire, however what makes her so special is she is turning her dream into reality and we are delighted she will be using her prize money to start her business.”
GR8 in 08 captured the imagination of many people not least Make Your Mark in Liverpool’s patron Sean Marley, Managing Director of Lime Pictures who provided the £1000 prize money.
He says: “GR8 in 08 was a fantastic opportunity for young people to describe what they want for the future of Liverpool during Capital of Culture year and beyond. Chloe’s idea really focused on the issues that are affecting everyone. Chloe should be very proud of her ideas and I am sure she will achieve everything she sets her mind to”.

“It’s great to be involved at the grass roots level of business,” said Matt, who plays the Channel 4 soap’s Max Cunningham.

Launch of Make Your Mark in Liverpool
13 November 2006
Monday 13 November 2006 saw not only the first day of Enterprise Week 2006 but the launch of Make Your Mark in Liverpool.
The launch event at the FACT centre was attended by 150 of Liverpool's most influential people from the public and private sectors. Local young entrepreneur Clare Molyneux acted as MC and, with her wit and wisdom, ensured the launch was a great success.
Make Your Mark in Liverpool patron Phil Redmond provided an insight into entrepreneurship in the city. Councillor Warren Bradley only pledged his support for the campaign and spoke about the positive effects the campaign will have on Liverpool.
Other speakers included Justine Mills, a young entrepreneur. Justine is so enthusiastic about the campaign for Liverpool that she overcame her nerves to deliver an account of her career in fashion retail as the co-owner of the ubiquitous Cricket boutique, purveyors to the footballers' WAGs. Matt Johnson, owner of the Mando Group, also leant his support to the campaign.
This event wasn't all about speakers though. The focus was on young people and the enterprising spirit that already exists in Liverpool. To highlight local entrepreneurs and enterprise activities, Make Your Mark in Liverpool commissioned the production of two short films which were premiered during the launch event. You can see the films here
There was also an incredible performance by 14-year-old singer Jayde Morgan - someone to watch out for in the future. The event closed with a speednetworking event and lots of cake!
Liverpool City Region hosted 120 events during Enterprise Week, including the launch of The Enterprise Game at Halton and the Streets of Culture computer game at Jaguar.
A Mumpreneurs event aimed at providing support for women with children who would like to be entrepreneurs was held at Blackburn House.
