Judges will be looking for creative and inspiring ideas, focusing on the most enterprising methods of acquiring the ball(s) and the most innovative use of the ball(s) to raise money for Sport Relief 2008.

Kulveer Taggar

Kulveer Taggar founded Auctomatic (www.auctomatic.com) with his cousin Harjeet Taggar and recently announced its multi-million-dollar sale to Live Current Media (www.livecurrent.com).

After moving to Silicon Valley last year to work on their first internet venture Boso.comThey received funding from American investor Y Combinator – the first time they had supported a start-up outside the USA.

Working amongst other internet start-ups and developing a network of contacts the pair was able to develop their second entrepreneurial venture, Auctomatic, which provides an innovative commerce technology framework for online retailers.

The grand prize

There will be six overall winners, one from each category:
  1. Youth groups: If the winner is 11 years or over they will receive a fantastic iPod touch (including one for each team member if won by a team). If they are under 11 they will win a selection of children's books and audiobooks (books received will be dependant on the age of the winners).*
  2. Primary schools: Each winner (including each team member if won by a team) will receive a selection of children’s books and audiobooks (books received will be dependant on the age of the winners)
  3. Secondary schools: Each winner (including each team member if won by a team) will receive a fantastic iPod touch.
  4. 6th Forms & Colleges: Each winner (including each team member if won by a team) will receive a fantastic iPod touch.
  5. Universities: Each winner (including each team member if won by a team) will receive a fantastic iPod touch.
  6. Workplaces: Each winner (including each team member if won by a team) will receive a fantastic iPod touch.

Special prizes

Best individual effort: If the winner is 11 years or over he/she will receive an iPod shuffle, if the winner is younger than 11, he/she will receive a selection of children's books and audiobooks.

This prize will be awarded to the most enterprising individual based on the judging criteria.

Best demonstration of teamworking: signed sports memorabilia and six Cross pens

Please describe in your ideas sheet how you delegated and divided up responsibility in your team.

Best visual presentation: a digital camera (for each team member if won by a team)

Entrants will be eligible for this prize if they choose to submit an optional photograph, video or drawing to illustrate how they carried out their challenge. Judges will be looking for an exciting visual representation of your Make Your Mark with a Ball idea in action.

Best PR & marketing plan: If the winner is 11 years or over, they will receive £200 worth of Love to Shop vouchers (to be shared if won by a team). If the winner is under 11, they will receive a selection of books and audiobooks (for each team member if won by a team).*

Entrants will be eligible for this prize (to be divided if won by a team) if they submit the optional PR & marketing plan. Judges will be looking for a clearly laid-out plan and thought-through strategy or evidence of good press coverage.
*Please note that for prizes with age restrictions the whole team will receive the same prize and it will be the prize that is appropriate to the youngest team member.

Judging criteria

For the overall winner in each category, entrants will be judged on both the ideas sheet and the financial plan. Judges will be looking for a creative, innovative and enterprising idea that raises money for Sport Relief 2008. They will be looking particularly for the following aspects of the Ideas sheet and the Financial plan:

Ideas sheet:

  • A clearly described idea which fits concisely onto one page
  • The originality of the idea
  • How the team/individual carried out the idea
  • Most novel use of a ball

Financial plan:

  • A financial plan presented in a clear and concise manner
  • Justified financial statements
  • Clear illustration of how money will be or has been raised for Sport Relief
