Teacher Notes

Idea balloonWhat’s involved?

Students will form clubs of 4 to 6 students. Using a large Clippykit bag (which will be provided to each group by Clippykit), they will develop a simple campaign to raise awareness about an issue that matters to them. Clubs should be able to show why their chosen issue is important, and develop an enterprising way of using the bag to promote it. They should also think about ways of getting their bag noticed beyond just walking around school carrying it. Clubs will come up with an innovative idea to raise money for their chosen issue and should start to run the Clippykit Challenge.

The challenge: There are TWO parts to this challenge.
  1. How are you going to use the Clippykit bag to raise awareness for your own good cause?
  2. Calypso Rose turned a bag into a business. So now its your turn to come up with great idea that could raise money to help your particular concern.

What should your entry look like?

  1. Title of the issue and why you chose it - One side A4
  2. How do you plan to promote the campaign - One side A4
  3. Clear Photo or photos of the finished bag
  4. Explain your product or service idea and its unique point of sale - One side A4

What will the judges look for?

The judges will be looking for original uses of the bag, creative designs, a well thought out approach to expressing the issue they are promoting, and lots of imagination. They will also be looking for an innovative money making project which raises awareness of the issue and makes money for it. You can use photographs, drawings, small objects anything that will catch the eye. Simple or complicated remember you are creating a bag to draw attention to the issue of your choice.

Who are the judges ?

Calypso Rose - The Designer and director of Clippykit
Jude Sutcliffe - Make Your Mark Challenge Co-ordinator

Notes:

  1. Team size - we suggest one or more teams of 4 to 6 students.
