Advice and support

Have you worked out how to stamp your idea on the world or how to improve things in your area? You might still want to find out who can help by giving advice and support. You may find at many stages of setting up and trading that you have questions. Don’t worry, there’s a broad support network out there which includes local regional help.  One-on-one support may also be useful in the form of a mentor. If freelancing, you may have specific questions which aren’t covered in other parts of our site.

Remember, the more you know about starting and running a business, the more prepared and less afraid you’ll be of facing and making big decisions when the time comes.

Who can help?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are many different types of advice that are available to entrepreneurs depending on the type of enterprise you are planning. Governmental, professional, educational, voluntary and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) can all be useful sources of advice and ongoing support.

Regional support

Consult local resources. There is help available in regions throughout the UK.

Mentoring

Trust someone who has been in your shoes. A mentor, or a more experienced business person, can offer guidance and support to you when you’re starting out.

Freelancing

Don’t go it completely alone. If you’ve decided to try freelancing, look here for some support options.
